The Most Wonderful Time of the Year….REALLY?

Clearly, the person who wrote this does not have children or celebrate the holiday at all. Because frankly, since I began decorating for this holiday I have never cursed so much in my life. The mere act of getting the Christmas boxes out of my garage is now on my list of “Things I hate most in my life”. It goes something like this:

  • First, I get to step over the rolled up beach towel I have sitting at the bottom of the door to keep the cold out. Why get a new door when a beach towel is so cheap?
  • Once inside, I get to manuever around the bikes and boxes of summer clothes that are sitting in the middle of the garage floor.
  • Then jump over Halloween pumpkin lanterns and fake spiders that never quite made it back into the Halloween box.
  • Then pass the new mailbox that my husband swears he is putting up for the last two years.
  • Now I get the ladder…the ladder is holding up that picture…
  • Move the picture… find a new place for the picture…
  • Found new place…move the bikes…
  • What’s that?….A box labeled “ORNAMENTS”…
  • Need a chair…move box off chair….
  • Look in box…there are the christmas lights….
  • Where is the tree?…I can’t even see the tree…How do you lose a freaking tree?…
  • What was I doing?…getting a chair to get the ornaments…
  • Bring chair over to ornaments…move the bikes again…get box of ornaments…
  • Look in box…Halloween costumes!??…
  • OH SCREW!!…WHO LABELS THESE FREAKING BOXES!!…(Mad, because I do)…
  • Fall off ladder…(luckily husband’s un-used gym equipment breaks my fall)…
  • Laying on the floor semi-conscious, I see the faint glimmer of pre-hung christmas lights peeking out past the treadmill that is covered in boxes…It’s the Christmas tree!!

This is a wonderful time of year!! Now, all I have to do is move those bikes…
